Micah Wolf
Ocean Minded proudly supports Micah Wolf, a singer-songwriter from Maui whose simple melodies and relatable lyrics ignite introspection. Now, with his second album “Beyond The Shores” to be released Sept. ’08, Micah continues his musical journey spreading his music and the sense of optimism that emanates from it.
Micah’s self-titled 2006 independent release proved a great foundation. His music has been played in 17 countries and reached #4 on the CMJ charts. He also gained exposure from music placement in numerous television shows on VH1, MTV, and Fuel TV.
With three mainland tours under his belt, Micah is no stranger to life on the road. Even as a child, he and his mother traveled across the United States, Canada, and Mexico living in communes. Immediately following high school, Micah moved to Maui, which he has called home for the last fourteen years.
His inward excursions are relevant and relatable on a universal level and win over the hearts of his listeners. His lyrics challenge you to take a deeper look at yourself and ask those questions we sometimes try to avoid. He says: “I like songs that tell a story and create an emotional impact— songs that make people think and ask questions.” No matter how dark the subject, he shares a refreshing sense of optimism. Micah doesn’t pretend to be someone he’s not—though a bit shy, he’s happiest when writing songs. His journey is not a selfish one. He wants to create a road map that will be a comfort for those on similar journeys.
Micah has found what is important to him with his music and that is not only looking within, but also reaching out. He’s raising awareness to the plastic pollution collecting in the Pacific Ocean with a song titled “One By One” centered on the issue. He has teamed up with the Algalita Marine Research Foundation to make a video that “will raise a few eyebrows and get people motivated.” He adds “I often need motivation, and more times than not I’ve found music and visuals set to music as an inspiring pivot point.”
Unpretentious and good-humored, Micah Wolf succeeds in creating a sound that makes you want to pull up a chair and hangout or even hit the dance floor. Where contemporaries like Ben Harper and Jack Johnson have paved the way, Micah takes a gracious step in his own direction.
